Python 3 is available for Windows, Mac OS and most of the flavors of Linux operating system. Even though Python 2 is available for many other OSs, Python 3 support either has not been made available for them or has been dropped.
I generally use Python 2.7 but recently installed Python 3.5 using Miniconda on Mac OS X. Different libraries have been installed for these two versions of python. Now, the entering either of the keywords 'python' or 'python3' in terminal invokes python 3.5, and 'python2' returns '-bash: python2: command not. There are now newer bugfix releases of Python 3.7 that supersede 3.7.0 and Python 3.8 is now the latest feature release of Python 3.Get the latest releases of 3.7.x and 3.8.x here.We plan to continue to provide bugfix releases for 3.7.x until mid 2020 and security fixes until mid 2023. Among the major new features in Python 3.7 are.

Open a terminal window and type 'python' to find out if it is already installed and which version is installed.

- Mac OS X 32-bit i386/PPC installer − python-3.5.1-macosx10.5.pkg
Double click this package file and follow the wizard instructions to install.

Setting up PATH

Programs and other executable files can be in many directories. Hence, the operating systems provide a search path that lists the directories that it searches for executables.
The important features are −
- The path is stored in an environment variable, which is a named string maintained by the operating system. This variable contains information available to the command shell and other programs.
- The path variable is named as PATH in Unix or Path in Windows (Unix is case-sensitive; Windows is not).
- In Mac OS, the installer handles the path details. To invoke the Python interpreter from any particular directory, you must add the Python directory to your path.
Setting Path at Unix/Linux
Python 3.6 Mac
To add the Python directory to the path for a particular session in Unix − Airtel 4g dongle software for mac mojave.
- In the csh shell − type setenv PATH '$PATH:/usr/local/bin/python3' and press Enter. Adobe creative cloud 6 for mac.
- In the bash shell (Linux) − type export PYTHONPATH=/usr/local/bin/python3.4 and press Enter.
- In the sh or ksh shell − type PATH='$PATH:/usr/local/bin/python3' and press Enter.
Note − /usr/local/bin/python3 is the path of the Python directory.
Setting Path at Windows
To add the Python directory to the path for a particular session in Windows −
- At the command prompt − type path %path%;C:Python and press Enter.
Note − C:Python is the path of the Python directory
Running Python
There are three different ways to start Python −
